About Archive

This site is an archive of custom PlayStation® 3 themes originally hosted on bestps3themes.com — one of the largest public collections of user-made .p3t theme files. It operated from roughly 2007 to the early 2020s and hosted thousands of custom XMB backgrounds, icons, sounds, and layouts from hobbyists worldwide.

This archive was created as a safeguard, if the original site goes offline permanently these themes would otherwise be lost. It also makes the collection easier to browse than the original site, with a searchable catalog, category filtering, and instant previews all in one place.

Every theme has been catalogued by category, and the original .p3t file has been preserved alongside its preview image, if one was available. Nothing here is modified, the files are served exactly as they were originally published.

What's Included

  • A catalog of themes across all original categories.
  • Preview images for themes whose previews were still reachable.
  • Original .p3t theme files
  • Metadata including theme names and authors where credited.

Installing a Theme

Custom themes require a PlayStation 3 running custom firmware (CFW) or HEN. Once installed:

  1. Copy the .p3t file to a USB drive.
  2. Insert the drive into your PS3.
  3. Go to Settings → Theme Settings → Theme → Install.
  4. Select the USB drive and choose the theme file.
  5. The theme will appear in your theme list and can be applied immediately.

Credits & Rights

All themes in this archive were created by their original authors, credited where known. This site makes no claim of ownership over any theme, image, or file. It exists solely as a non-commercial preservation effort for a platform whose custom-content scene has largely faded.

If you are the original author of a theme and would like it removed from this archive, please reach out via the contact page and it will be taken down without question.
